About us

The Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries is a key instrument on Switzerland’s university landscape. The members of the consortium include all cantonal universities, the ETH Domain, universities of applied sciences, teacher training colleges, the Swiss National Library and other secondary partners from publicly funded institutions in Switzerland. The consortium was launched by the Conference of Swiss University Libraries (KUB) as a national project in 2000 and received fifty per cent of its funding from the Swiss Confederation. Since 2006 the consortium has been funded in full by its partners.

Core task

The consortium’s core task consists in licensing for e-resources (electronic journals, databases, eBooks) for primary and secondary consortium partners. Moreover, the consortium office organises workshops and information events on current topics, as well as providing additional services. The office’s operative duties are outlined in the Performance Mandate passed by the KUB.
